Cauliflower is indeed, a flower. In early stage it resembles like broccoli, its closest relative. Cauliflower forms a compact head of undeveloped white flower buds. As it grows on a single stalk, the head (known as the "curd") is surrounded by heavily ribbed green leaves.
Cauliflower contains sulforaphane, a sulfur compound that has also been shown to kill cancer stem cells, thereby slowing tumor growth. They are an excellent source of natural antioxidants due to their high levels of various phytochemicals, as well as good suppliers of essential vitamins, carotenoids, fiber, soluble sugars, minerals, and phenolic compounds.

·       Cauliflower is well-named because it really is a flower. The part that we eat consists of a cluster of flower heads. If left alone, these flowers would eventually develop seeds.

·       Peter Glazebrook shot to fame (well, a kind of fame, at least) in 2014 when he set a new Guinness World Record for growing the largest cauliflower ever. It weighed 60 pounds, 9.3 ounces, and was six feet wide measured across the leaves.
