Dragon Fruits have red or yellow skin (which looks a little like a soft pineapple with spikes) and white or red flesh, but always the beginnings of overlaid leaves, and an abundance of small, black, edible seeds. The flavor is mildly sweet, like a blend of kiwi and pear, and it has a crunchy texture
Dragon fruit is jam-packed with flavonoids and flu-fighting vitamin C, which is great for the immune system. In fact, it contains more vitamin C than a carrot, making the dragon fruit one of the top vitamin C foods around. The seeds of dragon fruits are high in polyunsaturated fats (omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids) that reduce triglycerides and lower the risk of cardiovascular disorders.

·       Dragon fruit is also known as strawberry pear or pitaya.

·       The cactus flower that produces dragon fruit survives only a single night. It blooms in the evening, ready for pollination by baths and moths, and wilts the very next day. The very brief pollination period, however, is sufficient for the plant to bear fruits.
